Frequently Asked Questions

What is the waiting time for an appointment?

At present we are invariably able to accomodate you within the same or next week.

Most medical examinations are performed on 4 days during the week between the hours of 12.30 pm and 5.00 pm with the x-ray either before of after the medical examination at our local private hospital, - The Park Hospital.

Do I have to attend on different occasions for blood tests, X-ray or medical examination?

No, The routine blood tests are performed at the same time as the medical. Only in exceptional circumstances are further tests required e.g. fasting lipids or fasting glucose. These are by definition in a fasting state and usually for those applicants that may be diabetic. This applies mainly to medical examinations for New Zealand—please see the country-specific information.

The chest x-ray is performed at our local private hospital by arrangement. The appointment will be booked either before or after your medical examination on the same afternoon. The hospital is within 10 minutes drive and you will be provided with a detailed map upon booking. If you arrive by public transport we can arrange a taxi.

When I ring I get the answerphone.

Our staff are in the office daily. If the voicemail activates at these times this is invariably due to another call being taken at the same time. All telephone and email queries are answered promptly.

I have been looking on the internet and notice some price variation between centers.

We aim to offer value for money and aim to provide an efficient and courteous service. As with any other service, regional factors and market forces may influence the price in a particular location. If you are in doubt please calculate the total fee for a comparison.

But surely it's in your interest to pass us as fit for our medicals.

The doctors make no decision regarding your fitness. They advise the embassies of the results of the examination and gather data. A doctor employed by the embassy makes the final decision regarding your fitness. You may be required to provide further medical information via your GP or Specialist.
